The 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games are happening next week in Thunder Bay, and Manitoba will be sending its largest team ever to the event with 60 athletes and 25 coaches and mission staff... including one of our own from the Morning Show... Co-Host Chris Sumner.

Chris is part of Team Manitoba as a Mission Staff-person, and has been and will continue to be working with the Provincial Curling and 5-pin bowling teams at the Winter Games.

And with that connection, Chris had three members of Team Manitoba stop by the studio... all three having the opportunity to go to Nationals for the first time.

22 year old Kira Owen from Altona and 16 year old Jonah Ginter from Rosetown are participating in the snowshoe competition, with Shania Ginter (Jonah's big sister, and also from Rosetown) an assistant coach for the team. Chris opened the conversation with Shania by asking how excited she is to be a first time Team Manitoba member.

Chris also spoke with Kira, and asked how excited she was for Games.

The countdown has been on since Team Manitoba was officially announced in December, and we can’t wait to be cheering everyone on as hard as we can over the course of next week.
