Steinbach's Les Friesen crosses the finish line first

 

Over 120 people took part in the Morden Triathlon yesterday which took competitors on various courses around Morden with each event coming to an end at Colert Beach.

 

Les Friesen of Steinbach was almost 20 minutes better then his next competitor in the Half-Ironman with a time of 4:38:45. Shaun Humphries of Winnipeg won the Foilman with a time of 1:57:51. Kevin Earl on Morden came in fourth in that event with a time of 2:02:18. Ken Kohut of Winnipeg won the Duathlon with a time of 2:28:23.

The Half-Ironman takes competitors on a 1900 meter swim followed by a 90km bike ride then a 21.1km run. The Foilman is a 900 meter swim, a 30km bike ride, and a 10.5km run. And the Duathlon is a 5km run, 30km bike ride, and a 10.5km run.

The Try-a-Triathlon and kids events are on the schedule for today.
