Altona/Rhineland Emergency Services responded to a house fire call shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday. The blaze occurred at 37 Lynnwood Bay in Altona's northwest corner.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Barry Friesen, the east wall and half of the home's roof was on fire when crews arrived on scene. Fire fighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames while protecting homes on either side of the burning building, however Friesen noted, the home on the east side sustained damage to the siding on the entire west exterior wall. The home to the west was undamaged in the incident.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.

An investigation into the incident is underway.

As of 9 p.m. Wednesday, Friesen indicated crews were expected to remain on scene for a few more hours as they worked to remove insulation from the home's attic in order to ensure fire containment.
