A rally Sunday afternoon in Morden was one of many that took place across Canada that day in support of Ukraine.

"The most important (thing) was to turn Canada blue and yellow once again to remind Canada and the world...that we support Ukraine," said Yevgenyia Tatarenko, a member of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, who organized the rally on the City's outskirts by the mosasaur sign welcoming people to the city. The event also served as reminder to the world that Ukraine still needs help. "Especially kids in Ukraine, people, civilians, defenders and wounded defenders in Mariupol.

With the war in Ukraine surpassing 80 days, Tatarenko says it is important to continue to show support for the country that continues to be underseige.

"Some people started to get tired of the war but it's still there, and so that's why we came together - to remind Ukraine that we stand for Ukraine and to remind the world that we support Ukraine."

As well, displaced Ukrainians who have recently found safety in Morden also shared their stories at the rally.

"Two families, moms with their kids, who were speaking and telling their stories how they were living in Ukraine under the shooting," said Tatarenko. "We live here without seeing the war, but when we see real people that were leaving Ukraine because of the war, they are real and they are here."

Mayor Brandon Burley and city councillor, Nancy Penner, were among the local dignitaries that attended Sunday's rally along with people from Winkler and Altona.

"That was a big sign for us that we are not alone here, and that on the City level, we are supported," said Tatarenko.
