The Portage-Lisgar MP says the opposition parties are preventing the government from creating peace and order.

Brian Pallister is frustrated Liberal, NDP, and Bloc MPs gutted Bill C-9 which called for an end to conditional sentences for serious crimes.

He explains it's another broken promise made during the last election campaign, and calls it a shame.

Conditional sentences such as house arrest have previously been given for offences including break and enter, drug production, arson, and impaired driving causing death.

Pallister feels the opposition is more interested in protecting the rights of criminals, and calls the current justice system a failed experiment by the previous government to shave costs.
