A local travel agent says scenes in passport offices across the country are quite hairy.

Pauline Villeneuve is with CAA Travel in Altona.

She says with only 40 per cent of Canadian citizens already in possession of passports, she does not expect the chaos to settle anytime soon.

Villeneuve also urges people who are planning to travel in the coming months to not put off getting papers.

She says the guarantee to the public in possessing a passport after being approved, went from 10 days to up to 30 days.

Villeneuve notes applying for a passport online will reduce time in line at the office from up to 5 hours, to about one hour.
