Over 200,000 students made their way to their first day of school yesterday.

Students from Lowe Farm Elementary were part of the bunch.

Teacher Alice Brown says its important that parents develope a routine with their younger children before school begins.

She says setting bedtimes and having your kids awake at certain times will make the transition to school easier.

Brown adds its crucial to pack healthy lunches for your children as well.

She says it will help them maintain focus and concentrate on their school work.

Brown notes it's as simple as replacing a sugary treat with an oatmeal raisin cookie.
