A local motocross rider got the chance to show his talents in front of his idols.

John Chapman of Morden raced in last weekend's Canadian National Motocross Championships at Shadow Valley Raceway south of Morden.

Chapman says riding in front of the pros was a great experience.

He says racing on his home track in front of his own fans was very nerve wracking.

Chapman finished 27th out of 49 racers at Shadow Valley.

He says next year, he will be racing in the pro category on the provincial circuit and on the Canadian National West series.

Chapman says he has one more race left on the provincial circuit.

He currently sits 1st place in the 250CC Intermediate Class and 2nd place in the 125CC Class.
