Update at 8:35 p.m. Friday, May 20th - In a Friday evening update, it was announced at approximately 1:30 pm this afternoon, RCMP Search and Rescue located Leo Cyr deceased. The death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

Steinbach and St. Pierre Jolys RCMP continue to investigate.

A search is currently underway between St. Adolphe and Ste. Agathe in the Highway 75 area for 72 year old Leo Cyr of Giroux.

RCMP received the missing persons report Friday around 8 a.m., after Cyr was last seen Thursday evening around 8 p.m in his vehicle on Highway 59 near Dunning Road East.

Family attended his residence last night to check on him, but he was not home and his vehicle was gone.

At approximately 7:25 am Friday, St. Pierre Jolys RCMP received a report of a vehicle stuck in a water filled field, near Highway 75, between St. Adolphe and Ste. Agathe. Officers attended, located the vehicle abandoned and determined it to be Cyr’s.

Leo Cyr is described as 5’11”, 250lbs with brown eyes and balding brown/grey hair. He was last seen wearing a blue long sleeve collared shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone around the area of Highway 75 between St. Adolphe and Ste. Agathe, is asked to be on the lookout for Cyr. If you see him, please call Steinbach RCMP immediately at 204-326-1234.
