Steve Christie stopped 40 shots as the Portage Islanders defeated the Ile des Chenes Northstars 5-2 Sunday at Stride Place. Zack Waldvogel, Nick Henry, Jared Roy, Joey Sutherland and Tanner Lesann did the goal scoring for the SEMHL leading Islanders who improved to 15-0. Matthew Osadick and Tyler Swerdyliak replied for the Northstars who are in seventh place with 17 points, one back of the Notre Dame Hawks and Red River Wild. The Wild scored four unanswered third period goals en route to a 6-1 victory over Altona. Jayden Sabourin had a pair of goals for Red River. Adam Henry had the lone goal for the Maroons.


Leah Pouteau potted the shootout winner as the Pembina Valley Hawks shaded the Central Plains Capitals 2-1. Mya Pearce scored the Hawks lone goal in regulation. Kasia Rakowski made 20 saves.


Riley Goertzen had a six-point night with a goal and five helpers as the Pembina Valley Twisters bounced the Fort Garry/Fort Rouge Twins 9-2. Slade Sotheran, Merek Degraeve and Brett Bergman had two goals each for the Twisters while the rest went to Caelan Russell and Derek Wiebe.


Owen Pederson scored his second goal of the game 2:42 into overtime to lift the Winnipeg Ice past the Calgary Hitmen 5-4. Carson Latimer, Easton Armstrong and Graham Sward also scored for the Ice who led 4-2 until Oliver Tulk and Sean Tschigerl scored power play goals 1:20 apart late in the third period.


Cole Maier, Leon Gawanke and Dominic Toninato did the goal scoring as the Manitoba Moose edged the Toronto Marlies 3-2 at Canada Life Centre.
