The Winnipeg Blue Bombers face the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina (5 p.m.) in the highly anticipated Labour Day Classic. The defending Grey Cup champions are unbeaten in six road games this season. Winnipeg head coach Mike O’Shea has added defensive backs Redha Kramdi, and Evan Holm, receiver Brendan O’Leary-Orange, safety Malcolm Thompson and defensive end Cedric Wilcots ll to the game day roster while linebacker Malik Clements, cornerback Demario Houston, fullback Konner Burtenshaw, defensive back Patrice Rene and offensive lineman Tomoya Machino were taken off the roster. The CFL best Bombers (10-1) will clinch a playoff spot for a sixth straight season with a win over the Riders.


Winkler Flyers main camp continues today with six intersquad games. The annual Orange vs Black game is scheduled for Labour Day Monday at 11 a.m. The Flyers' first of four preseason games is Wednesday against the Pistons in Steinbach.


Canada and the United States will play for gold today (12:30 p.m.) at the 2022 World Women’s Hockey Championship in Herning, Denmark. Marie-Philip Poulin had two two goals and an assist as Canada defeated Switzerland 8-1 in the semifinals. Ste. Anne’s Jocelyne Larocque, who drew an assist on Brianne Jenner’s second period goal, was named one of Canada’s top three players at the tournament along with Poulin and Sarah Fillier. The Americans downed Czechia 10-1 in the other semifinal.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes were shutout 4-0 by the Sioux Falls Canaries at Shaw Park. Second baseman Kevin Lachance had two of the Goldeyes five hits.
