The Morden Bombers are one win away from capturing the South Eastern Manitoba Hockey League championship. Morden scored five unanswered first period goals en route to a 9-3 victory over the Ste. Anne Aces. Jaden Townsend had a hat trick for the Bombers who lead the best-of-seven final three games to none. Mike Rey and Jory Mullin added two each while the rest went to Tyler Peers and Jay Fehr. William Cruise, Keith Grondin and Owen Blocker replied for the Aces. Game four goes Friday in Ste. Anne. 


The Winkler Flyers dropped a 2-1 decision to the Steinbach Pistons at the Centennial Arena. Daniel Isaak had the lone goal for the Flyers who received a 39-save performance from Malachi Klassen. Winkler has two games left in the regular season schedule and will face the Pistons in round one of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League playoffs. 


The Brandon Wheat Kings lost 6-3 to Regina. Connor Bedard and Tanner Howe had two goals each for the hometown Pats. Zakhar Polshakov, Nolan Ritchie and Joby Baumuller did the goal scoring for the Wheat Kings who have four games left and trail the Calgary Hitmen by two points in the race for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference. 


The Manitoba Moose lost 4-3 to Rockford. Rocco Grimaldi potted the winner 2:09 into overtime for the IceHogs. Henri Nikkanen, Dominic Toninato and Jansen Harkins scored for the Moose. 


It's day one of the Provincial High School Varsity Basketball championships. Garden Valley boys and Sanford girls are at the AAA championships in Thompson. Westpark is at the AA boys championship in Virden. Carman and Rosenort are at the AA girls championship in Souris. The Elm Creek Cobras are competing at the Provincial A boys championship in Grandview.
