Kerri Einarson captured the fourth Grand Slam curling title of her career. Einarson, Val Sweeting, Shannon Birchard and Briane Meilleur defeated Eun-Ji Gim of South Korea 10-6 in the final of the Champions Cup in Olds, Alberta. The three-time reigning Canadian champions from the Gimli Curling Club earned $25,000. Brad Gushue of St. John's downed Kevin Koe of Calgary 8-5 in the men's final. The 2022-23 Grand Slam of Curling season begins with the National in North Bay, Ontario from October 4-9.


The Manitoba Junior Hockey League final is going the distance. Carson Cherepak stopped all 24 shots he faced as the Dauphin Kings shutout the Steinbach Pistons 2-0 Sunday night at Credit Union Place. Garrett Hrechka and Logan Calder did the goal scoring for the Kings who evened the series at three games a piece. Pistons netminder Will Hambley faced 47 shots. The deciding seventh game goes Wednesday in Steinbach.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed defensive linemen Cole Adamson and Jeremy Kapelanski. Both players were selected in last weeks 2022 CFL Draft. The defending Grey Cup champions also signed defensive back Souleymane Karamoko who was chosen in the 2022 Global Draft. Blue Bombers rookie camp is scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 11th.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes beat Black Sox Professional Baseball 6-4 in an exhibition game at Shaw Park on Sunday afternoon. The Fish plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning highlighted by Logan Hill's two-run single. Jhon Vargas picked up the win in relief, pitching three shutout innings with five strikeouts. The Goldeyes will hold a practice session today and play an exhibition game against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Shaw Park on Tuesday. Winnipeg will open the 2022 American Baseball Association season at home on Friday, May 13th against the RedHawks.
