There’s a three-way tie for top spot in the SEMHL. The Warren Mercs, Portage Islanders and Carman Beavers share first place with 16 points each. The Mercs defeated the Hawks 5-1 in Notre Dame Friday night. It’s a busy weekend for the Mercs who will play road games tonight against the Bombers in Morden and Sunday against the Beavers in Carman. The fourth place Bombers are just two points out of first place.

 

Mike Svenson scored Winkler’s lone goal in the Flyers 4-1 loss to the Wolverines at Waywayseecappo. Winkler netminder Malachi Klassen made 18 saves. The Flyers outshot the Wolverines 32-21.

 

The Pembina Valley Twisters lost 6-5 in a shootout to the Charleswood Hawks at the Eric Coy Arena in Winnipeg. Riley Goertzen had a goal and an assist for the Twisters who gave up four power play goals to the Hawks including the tying goal with 47 seconds left in the third period. Tyler Van Deynze, Curtis Rebeck, Jordan Keck and Nathan Ayotte also scored for Pembina Valley.

 

Rylen Roersma scored twice, Ridly Greig had a goal and three assists and Nate Danielson had four helpers as the Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Rebels 4-1 in Red Deer. The Wheat Kings, who lost 4-3 in overtime to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Wednesday, continue their four-game Alberta road trip this afternoon when they meet the Oil Kings in Edmonton.

 

The Manitoba Moose fell 3-2 to Grand Rapids. Griffins forward Jonatan Berggren scored the winner 4:13 into overtime. Evan Polei and Todd Burgess did the goal scoring in regulation for the Moose.
