Council for the Rural Municipality of Stuartburn is crossing their fingers in the hopes that 2021 will not be defined by natural disasters.

Chief Administrative Officer Lucie Maynard says the complications of the COVID-19 pandemic combined and the devastation of the June flood made it impossible to get on top of certain projects. She is hopeful that will change.

“Hopefully we will no longer playing catch up in repair mode, but moving forward,” she states. “we’re looking to proceed with a lot more of our yearly projects that sometimes get put on the backburner when you have to deal with disasters.”

Now that Stuartburn has largely recuperated from their losses, Maynard expects Council will be able to resume their focus of stimulating economic development, upgrading roads, updating internet services, and advancing recreational opportunities for their ratepayers.
