The MLA for Pembina says Jack Penner has been a great asset to the Tory caucus and represented the Emerson constituency very well.

Penner announced Wednesday that after 18 1/2 years representing the area, he was not seeking re-election.

Peter George Dyck says he was surprised by the announcement because of the interest Penner has in politics and the amount of work he was putting in.

Dyck says it will not be easy to replace Penner.

He says Penner is a man of integrity, knowledgeable and a hard worker for the constituency.

Dyck adds a number of people have already expressed interest in running for the Tory nomination in Emerson.
