A joint effort between the Morden and Winkler Police Departments has resulted in two people facing drug charges and over $6000 dollars worth of cocaine being taken off the streets of the two communities.

On Tuesday around 9:56 pm, officers stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 14, where two people were taken into custody as part of a drug trafficking investigation. There were two children in the car at the time who were placed in the care of a family member.

A search of the vehicle and arrested suspects found roughly 61 grams of cocaine, with a street value of $6100 dollars and  $410 dollars cash, believed to have been a result of drug trafficking.

A 31-year-old male and a 25-year-old female, both of Morden, are facing charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of goods obtained by crime.

The pair was released on Undertakings with a court date scheduled for June 26, 2022, in Morden.
