With the recent minus 40 temperatures, not only do we need to remember to bundle ourselves up when going outside but extra attention needs to be paid to our vehicles.

Ed Hildebrand is the service manager at Garden City Chrysler in Morden.

He recommends we warm our vehicles about 5 minutes before driving them.

Hildebrand says because the cold weather causes a lot of pressure build up in hoses and seals, if you don't warm them before driving you will blow them.

Hildebrand notes the most common problem they've seen in vehicles lately are dead batteries.

He says it is smart to check the strength of your battery before winter hits because the freezing cold will make small problems big ones.
