It was a busy evening at Winkler's Central Station Community Centre as they hosted their first Christmas meal in their new space. Central Station Executive Director Bev Wiebe said it was a good change.

"It feels good, in the past, we haven't been able to host it on-site so it's really nice to have everyone come into our space."

The Winkler Men's Choir organized a flash mob for the evening as a surprise for the community. Members of the choir agreed upon a time when they would all stand up in unison and begin singing Joy to the World. Wiebe said it was good to see Christmas carols happening.

"I looked around the room and saw lots of people joining in."

The Christmas Meal happens every year and its purpose is to bring the community together and break down barriers.

Cafe 545 will resume its work in the new year.
