Winkler City Councilor and Deputy Mayor, Henry Siemens has thrown his hat in the ring to be the next mayor of the community.

Siemens says Winkler has been extremely blessed with a lot of growth over the last number of years, growth he says that requires a lot of pre-planning. He said he's intimately aware of that pre-planning, what still needs to be done, and what projects are almost ready to start. In that aspect, Siemens feels he brings a valuable piece of experience to the role, and could help with the continuity and the growth that needs to continue to happen.

Some of the upcoming projects he pointed out are the wastewater treatment plant, and the new three-storey health centre announced for last week for downdown Winkler.

s the biggest piece next term will be getting Winkler back on the track that we're used to being on. That is to be in a place where Winkler is a leader in the area, a leader provincially, and that the city has the opportunity to "get back to being Winkler."

"Outside of that obviously with the campaign not starting until May 1st, I won't get into any specifics per say yet, but it is something I'm excited about. I'm excited about the future of Winkler. I'm excited about where we've come from, and really really excited about where we have an opportunity to go."
