A 20 year Paralympic career has come to an end, and it's a bittersweet moment for former Winnipegger Michelle Stilwell. Michelle has been a friend of the Morning Show over the years, having ties to Southern Manitoba, specifically family in the Altona area.

The Paralympian won a total of 6 golds and one silver at the 2000 (wheelchair basketball), 2008, 2012 and 2016 games. She leaves wheelchair racing holding the world record in the 100m , 200m and 800m in the T52 class.

Morning Show Co-Host Chris Sumner asked Michelle when she knew it was time to step away from the sport.

The last number of years Michelle has been balancing her Paralympic training schedule and career with the hectic schedule of being a mother, wife AND an M.L.A. In the British Columbia Legislature. Wow!

In her retirement announcement Michelle thanked all the trainers and coaches she's had over the past twenty years, but noted one in particular, Peter Canada, who had been with her for the last decade.

Congratulations on the amazing Paralympic career, Michelle, and all the best in the next chapter of your life!
