The weather was absolutely gorgeous for the Access Credit Union Steps for Pets Walk-a-thon in Altona. The sun was shining, a slight breeze filled the air, and it was just right for all the animals taking part of the event not to burn up underneath their fur.

This year the Pembina Valley Humane Society was raising funds to help pay the veterinary bills that they had to pay to keep the animals in their care in top shape. They had more to spend last year on care for the animals than usual but they are always willing to make sure their animals are healthy and that all injuries are taken care of.

A BBQ Supper was held after the walk was over and little thank you goodie bags were given out, as well as adult and youth prizes to the people who had raised the most money.

While there were only a few participants, a total of $985 was raised to help our local animals. There are always on going expenses the Pembina Valley Humane Society needs to pay so if you would like to help out our local animals, donate online at http://pvhsociety.ca/donate.
