It’s been dubbed the strongest Atlantic Hurricane in recorded history, and Irma continues to set its sights on the Caribbean and Florida.

Terri St. Louis grew up in the Altona area, and now lives and works in Miami, Florida. We spoke with Terri Wednesday morning after a voluntary evacuation order was issued for her area.

St. Louis left her home and Miami Wednesday afternoon, and traveled north where she plans to stay until the storm has passed or the all clear is given.

We also asked her to talk about the feeling she’s getting from Miami residents as the category 5 storm potentially heads their way.

With voluntary evacuation orders now in place, we asked Terri whether the fresh memories of the destruction Houston experienced just two weeks ago due to Hurricane Harvey is encouraging Floridians to prep sooner and heed warnings.

Hurricane Irma has left a path of destruction throughout the Caribbean, and models are still suggesting it may impact Florida at some point Sunday morning.
