The Alzheimer’s Society held their Altona “Walk for Alzheimer’s” at Eastview Place this past Wednesday, on June 14.

The weather played with our emotions that day with it being sunny very early in the morning, then being gloomy and drizzling, and then ten minutes before the walk, breaking out into sunshine again.

While many people came out, such as the 2016 Sunflower Royalty, a bunch of kids from grade 3 also came out to support the walk. They also came out with a treat for everyone who attended by singing a few songs for us.

Before the walk there was a small program where the Mayor of Altona, Melvin Klassen, told us the story of his mom, and Geri Pappel talked to us about what it is like to work with people with Dementia.

After the walk, everyone enjoyed a hot dog BBQ lunch and were able to enjoy the sun before the down pour later that afternoon.
