It’s Canada’s only nationally designated Mennonite Heritage Site, and is a Parks Canada National Historic Site.

We’re talking about the Village of Neubergthal located southeast of Altona, which is one the best and only surviving examples of a single street Mennonite village.

The Neubergthal Heritage Foundation, which oversees the villages historic buildings, is now entering Phase Two of a large scale capital campaign.

The campaign has a goal of raising $1.5 million in order to continue with the restoration and rehabilitation of the Kilppenstein yard and house barn as a centre for education and culture.

Morning Show Co-Host Chris Sumner recently spoke with the Foundation’s Chair Shaun Friesen about the campaign.

Shaun and Chris also spoke about the specifics of the project.

Works has already begun on the restoration and rehabilitation of the Klippenstein yard and house barn as a centre for education and culture, but much more is needed to be done and that’s where you come in.

Engineers and inspectors need the extra studding. The outside wall will be almost straight now. Siding will be manufactured to match the original.
