This past weekend Morden held their Annual Morden Corn and Apple Festival. Even though the forecast said it was supposed to rain, the weather ended up being on our side and the rain stayed away for the entire weekend.

The Corn and Apple brought thousands of people from all over Southern Manitoba to Morden to experience this big, small town festival. There was so much to do and to see that it was no surprise there was such a big turnout.

Friday, August 25th, was the day the big festival started. The street vendors, Artist and Artisan Alley, Midway, and Farmers Market, all opened up for the first time for all visitors to come and enjoy. On Friday, there was also an All Style Hip-Hop Competition at the Youth Stage and a pie eating contest which were both a hit with the crowd.

Saturday, August 26th, many people were drawn to Morden for the biggest day of the weekend. There were many performers on stage, many buskers throughout the streets, and lots and lots of food options everywhere you went.

A new attraction this year was Morden’s first Comic Con. Many people young and old came to check it out and partake in the activities that were there. There were booths set up with local artists showcasing their work, cosplayers showing off their handmade costumes, and many people sharing their love of comic books and superheroes. There were even games of Quidditch being held that anyone could participate in.

To wrap up the weekend, many people came out on Sunday, August 27th, for the community church service held by the main stage. It was a lovely morning and afternoon, perfect for a relaxing, final day of the festival and last weekend of the summer.
