Today the Morning Show saluted the hundreds of post-secondary grads from across Southern Manitoba who will be, or have already, donned their cap and gown at a convocation this Spring.

With that in mind, we invited Lauren Martens, who is from the Altona area, to the studio Wednesday to talk about her post-secondary experience as a rural Manitoba kid who went to the University of Manitoba, and ultimately graduated from the School of Medicine.

Lauren is taking a small break before starting her residency with the Northern Remote Family Medicine Residency program.

But what about before those early days before University as she finished high school? How did she decide to take what's considered by many as one of the most challenging post-secondary paths possible?

It's not every day we get to interview a new doctor from rural Manitoba, so we thought it would be neat to talk to Lauren about the experience of going to school to be one.

To Lauren, and all the post-secondary grads throughout Southern Manitoba, Congratulations and good luck!
