Thursday our special guest was Sheilah Restall from Winnipeg, the organizer behind the Poppy Blanket Project which has brought together dozens upon dozens of Manitobans to create a literal blanket of crocheted and knitted poppies in time for Remembrance Day.

Morning Show Co-Host Chris Sumner spoke with Sheilah, and asked her to share where she was inspired to do this as a way to honour veterans and those who gave their lives for their country.

And that response has been overwhelming.... literally hundreds of people connected with Sheilah after she mentioned the Poppy Blanket Project online, and from there... the project began to take shape.

Chris asked Sheilah why she felt it was important to remember those who had given their lives to their country in this way?

All of this work was leading up to something very special happening this week before Remembrance Day.... the unveiling of the Poppy Blanket project!

Now the big question... when and where will the blanket be unveiled? All we can say right now, because we’ve been sworn to secrecy, is the Poppy Blanket Project will be unveiled at several locations over the coming days, and for sure at Winnipeg City Hall.

Thank you Sheilah for leading such an important effort, one that recognizes the thousands of men and women who gave their lives in service of our country, and to ensure the freedoms we enjoy today will be enjoyed forever.
