The 2019 Skills Manitoba Competition happened yesterday at Red River College in Winnipeg, and for the third time, Morning Show Co-Host Chris Sumner had the opportunity to be a judge in the Skills Demonstration category. The

Jonathan Theobald from NPC in the Electrical Installation competition category has students showing off their specific trade skill while explaining it to the judges and audience... from a stage!

It takes a special person to be proficient at a trade, but add in public speaking while doing it... now that's a challenge!

Chris caught up with Garden Valley Collegiate Grade 12 Student Linda Wiebe who is part of the RRTVA Esthetics program at Northlands Parkway Collegiate in Winkler. To start with, they chatted about how she got into the program in the first place.

Chris also caught up with Rick Rempel, the Carpentry instructor at W.C. Miller Collegiate in Altona. Rick had a student competing Thursday in that trade, and has had a number of students compete over the years. Chris asked him what he feels the benefit is for students to have the opportunity to compete at Skills Manitoba.

And, again, to Linda and the four other students Chris met Thursday in the Job Skill Demo category.... just a fantastic job! It's not an easy thing to get on stage, let alone talk about what you are doing while doing it. Top marks for all of you on that!
