The 2017 Southern Manitoba Student Art Show at Gallery in the Park in Altona wraps up today (Friday, May 12th) with dozens of pieces from a variety of mediums on display. This was the fourth time high schools from the Pembina

Valley have exhibited together, with Garden Valley Collegiate in Winkler, Morden Collegiate and W.C. Miller Collegiate in Altona participating.

The pieces from Morden and Winkler incorporated the theme “Mystery”. The 3D models from Miller work with found materials used to create different scene and objects.

Students from Grades 9 to 12 showcased their work in media such as acrylic paint, graphite pencil, and 3D materials.

W.C. Miller Collegiate Grade 10 Students Abbigail Schellenberg and Joelle Klassen who worked together to create a 3D model of a place very familiar to Joelle.

Morning Show Co-Host Chris Sumner stopped by the show Thursday evening to speak with Abbigail and Joelle about their piece, and the joy the get from expressing their creativity through artistic mediums.

 

 

The 2017 Southern Manitoba Student Art Show at Gallery in the Park in Altona is open to the public today from 4pm to 8pm. Admission is free.
