Did you know that 58% of Manitobans over age 65 take at least 5 medications? Or that 1 in 5 takes at least 10? (CIHI 2018)
Medications can help us in many different ways. However, as we age, our bodies become more sensitive to their effects. Some medications may even carry more risk than benefit, causing falls, memory problems and hospitalizations. The more medications we take, the greater the risk of harmful side effects. In fact, older adults are hospitalized due to harmful medication effects five times more often than other age groups.

Learn about medication risks and aging, deprescribing, and ways to help older adults in your community mitigate the risk of harmful effects of medications.

Train on key tools for raising awareness of safe medication use.

Bring key resources for promoting and supporting safe medication use back to your community.

Network and brainstorm with stakeholders working to improve the lives of older adults across the province.

Free registration includes the full-day workshop, a safe meds resource toolkit, coffee and snacks.
Lunch $10, payable at the door
*A limited number of travel subsidies are available. Please direct inquiries to Jennie at inf[email protected].
Registration deadline: March 15th, 2019
