The Zone 4 High School Hockey League semifinals are set after the Carman Cougars and Prairie Mountain Mustangs completed two-game sweeps of their respective opening round series.

Cougars 2 Trojans 1
Tyson Allison scored both Carman goals as the Cougars defeated the PCI Trojans 2-1 Friday night in Portage. Cougars goaltender Alex Clemis made 27 saves as Carman took the best-of-three quarterfinal two games to none. Lucas Neufeld had the lone goal for the Trojans who will host the Provincial “AAAA” High School Hockey Championship next month. The Cougars entertain the Miller Aces on Tuesday in game one of their second round series. The Aces eliminated the Northlands Parkway Nighthawks.

Mustangs 5 Mavericks 3
Christopher Lesage made 42 saves and Christian Chevalier scored twice as Prairie Mountain downed Morris 5-3 in Swan Lake. Nico Vigier, Connor Norrie and Kyle Devos also scored for the Mustangs who swept that opening round series in two straight. Max Colette, Derek Mazinke and Jordan Keck replied for the Mavericks. Morris will host the Provincial “AA” High School Hockey Championship next month. Prairie Mountain will face the defending champion Thunder in Morden on Wednesday in game one of their semifinal. The Thunder ousted the Pembina Tigers in round one.
