The Winkler Flyers have added gritty winger Cole Kirkup for the 2017-2018 campaign.

The Souris product played his Midget Hockey and his first year of Junior A Hockey with the Notre Dame Hounds in Saskatchewan.

“Cole is a gritty, two-way forward with some offensive upside,” said Flyers head coach and general manager Ken Pearson. “He skates well and will add some experience to our forward group."

Kirkup had six points (2 goals – 4 assists) in 36 games played with Notre Dame (SJHL) last season to go along with 58 penalty minutes. The 5’10”, 175lbs forward was also an assistant captain in his final year of Midget Hockey in the 2015-2016 season.

“I’m very excited to be joining the Winkler Flyers and thank them for the opportunity,” said Kirkup. “It is a great organization with amazing support from their community. Also, it will be nice staying a little closer to home after being away for three years. All in all, I’m very excited to get things going at training camp."

The Flyers would like to welcome Cole and his family to the Flyers organization and look forward to seeing him on the ice this fall.
