The Winnipeg Jets are riding a season high four-game winning streak.

Kyle Connor, Patrik Laine, Jacob Trouba, Matt Hendricks and Mathieu Perreault scored in the second period as the Jets defeated New Jersey 5-2 Saturday at Bell MTS Place.

“It was one of the those games that everybody needed to be good at one point or another,” said Winnipeg head coach Paul Maurice. “Connor Hellebuyck was really good in the first. He made a couple of good saves and keeps it at 0-0. Our penalty kill was really important in the second as well and then we got the offense going. We didn’t have a power play tonight so we had to grind some of those goals out.”

It’s the second time this season the Jets scored five times in a period,

Winnipeg potted five in the opening 20 minutes against the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins back on October 29th.

Hellebuyck, who made 34 saves, improved to 11-1-2 this season while Laine extended his points streak to eight games tying a career high.

The Jets (12-4-3) will begin a four-game road trip Monday when they face the Nashville Predators.

Defenseman Toby Enstrom will not make the trip.

The Winnipeg blueliner suffered a lower body injury Saturday afternoon and will miss up to eight weeks.

Tucker Poolman was called up from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose and will replace Enstrom on the Jets roster.
