Game one of the NHL's Western Conference final belongs to the Winnipeg Jets.

Dustin Byfuglien, Patrik Laine and Joel Armia scored in the opening 7:35 of the first period goals as Winnipeg defeated Vegas 4-2 Saturday night at Bell MTS Place.

It’s the third straight series that the Jets have won game one.

Mark Scheifele added his 12th of the Stanley Cup playoffs midway through the second period.

“Our start was obviously key,” said Scheifele when asked what he liked about the series opener. “They pushed hard, they had their chances but (Connor) Hellebuyck made some big saves. We’re happy with the win. They’re a great team and tough to beat but we’re happy with the win.”

Jets captain Blake Wheeler chipped in with three assists.

Hellebuyck finished the night with 19 saves.

Brayden McNabb and William Karlsson replied for the Golden Knights.

Vegas goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury faced 26 shots.

Game two in the best-of-seven series goes Monday night in Winnipeg.
