The Garden Valley Collegiate junior varsity girls basketball team went to Brandon for the Crocus Plains Java Jam Tournament this past weekend. The girls came home with a silver medal.

It was an 8 team tournament over 3 days. The Zodiacs played 3 games, winning the first two, that put them in the championship game.

Thursday night GVC played St. Mary's Flames from Winnipeg and with some intense full-court pressure and awesome rebounding they won 51-32.

Their next game was Friday morning, where they faced the host team in front of a packed gym as a part of their pep rally. The Zodiacs showed some great calmness as they broke the Plainsmen's press, controlled the game and won 56-27.

The championship game on Saturday was to be their toughest game of the season so far as they faced the Kelvin Clippers.

The Clippers, who are fifth in the MHSAA's Weeky Top 10 AAAA rankings, were too much for the Zodiacs defeating them 84-30 but facing such a strong talented team, they really won as they learned so much during that game.
