The Morris Mavericks are Provincial AA High School Hockey champions for the third time.

Justin Keck had two goals and an assist and Sean Penner made 24 saves as the Zone 4 champions defeated the Westman High School Hockey League’s Hamiota Huskies 4-1 Saturday afternoon in Cartwright.

Teagan Fillion and Maxime Collette also scored for the Mavericks.

The championship game was scoreless after the first period and Morris enjoyed a 1-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

The Mavericks blanked the Prairie Mountain Mustangs 4-0 and beat the Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders 7-0 in the round robin.

Morris then edged the host Pembina Tigers 3-2 in the semifinals.

The Mavericks finished the season with a record of 47-1-2 in tournament play, league play and at the provincials.

Clayton Dreger asked Mavs forward Justin Keck, who was named the MVP, how it felt to win the Provincial Championship banner
