The Winkler Flyers have selected Nolan McGuire as their Team Captain for the 2017-2018 Manitoba Junior Hockey League season.

The Winkler native is entering his fourth season with the Orange and Black, and has proven to be an integral part of the team both on the ice, in the dressing room and in the community.

“He’s been with us now for a few years now and I love his competitiveness on the ice,” said Flyers head coach and general manager Ken Pearson. Nolan has a great grasp of the room and the guys really respect him. He’s also quite involved in the community which is also really important.”

In 134 regular season games played over the past three seasons, McGuire has 61 points (31 goals and 30 assists) to go along with 32 penalty minutes.

“It feels great to be recognized as a leader,” said McGuire. “It’s very humbling to be able to be the Captain for such a great organization.”

The names of their Alternate Captains will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Flyers would like to congratulate Nolan on this honor and look forward to seeing the “C” on his jersey this fall.
