Josh Morrissey scored 41 seconds into overtime as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-4 Thursday night at Bell MTS Place.

The Winnipeg defenseman ripped a wrist shot from the left face-off circle past Edmonton netminder Cam Talbot.

Mathieu Perreault, Nikolaj Ehlers, Patrik Laine and Mark Scheifele also scored for the Jets who gave up three unanswered goals after taking a 3-1 lead early in the second period.

Ryan Spooner, Darnell Nurse, Jujhar Khaira and Alex Chiasson did the goal scoring for the Oilers.

Laine ended a six-game drought with his 22nd goal of the season at 1:42 of the middle frame while Scheifele tied the game at 4-4 midway through the third period.

Edmonton captain Connor McDavid recorded a pair of assists and now has 301 career points.

Winnipeg goaltender Connor Hellebuyck made 22 saves.

The Jets (20-9-2) wrapped up their four-game homestand with three wins and a loss.

Winnipeg will face the Blackhawks in Chicago on Friday night and host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday.
