Devon LeBlanc scored twice and Steve Christie made 52 saves as the South East Prairie Thunder defeated the host Generals 4-2 on day one of the 2019 Allan Cup in Lacombe, Alberta.

Tyler Dittmer and Brad Cole also scored for the Prairie Thunder who led 1-0 after the first period and 3-1 after 40 minutes.

Ian White chipped in with a pair of assists.

"We haven't played much together as a team," Christie told LacombeOnline's Amie MacInnis. "We had one short series in Manitoba to qualify so we wanted to weather the storm. We knew they were going to come hard all game. Maybe we gave up more than we would have liked to so hopefully we get better from here."

Travis Granbois and Levi Nelson did the goal scoring for the Generals.

The Prairie Thunder will play their final round robin game Wednesday against the Haut-Madawaska Panthers.

A South East win over the Panthers gives the two-time Allan Cup champions a bye to the semifinals on Friday.
