Team Michiels (red) doubled Team Thiessen (white) 6-3 in the Pembina Valley Hawks intersquad game Tuesday night in Morden.

"I thought it was competitive," said Hawks head coach Rylan Price. "It got a little chippy toward the end, but guys were being physical and there was a good pace to the game."

Around 37 players took part in the game and competed for a chance continue their goal of making the 2017-18 Hawks squad.

"I like playmakers. I want to see guys that have their heads up guys that are going to make a good pass, guys that are committing to the backcheck and defensive side of the game," said Price. "I'm looking for more good things than bad things."

Up next for Pembina Valley is a trio of exhibition games against all three Winnipeg teams this weekend. The Hawks will square off with the Thrashers, Wild, and Bruins on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

"We are expecting Winnipeg to have some good teams there. We are going to be putting a lot of pressure on the players we have remaining to perform, said Price. "We expect them to have their 'A' games and show us what they have."
