She posted a 1.54 Goals Against Average (GAA), a .937 save percentage en route to a 7-3 record with three of those being shutouts this year.

Former Pembina Valley Hawk Taylor Reimer enjoyed some success during her freshmen year with the University of Waterloo Warriors Female Hockey program.

"It went well. I lived up to what I thought I wanted my rookie year to go like. I played a lot more than I thought I would, which is nice," said Reimer. -- I'm happy with it.

This was Reimer's first year trying to balance a University school schedule and hockey, while quite the distance away from home.

"I think I had a lot of support from people back home, which definitely helped," said the 6'1'' goaltender from Morden. "I just focused on hockey and school, which is pretty much my main focus this year.

The Warriors finished fourth in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) division after posting a 14-8-2 record during the regular season.

In the first round of playoffs the Warriors squared off with the Western Mustangs and edged them in three games after a 3-2 win, a 2-1 loss, and a 2-0 shutout win.

Then in the semi-finals the first place Guelph Gryphons (20-3-1). Waterloo fell 3-1 in game one, won game two 2-1 and lost game three of the series 4-1.

"It's really tough to beat Guelph on their home ice, they really know how to use their big ice," explained Reimer. "This year for the program of the Waterloo women's hockey team, this is the furthest we've ever gone. We never won a playoff series or even a playoff game before. This year was a really good accomplishment for us as a team."

"I think we all bought into our systems and committed ourselves 100% to the team and just believed in ourselves," added Reimer when asked why the team had success this season.

As for a personal accolade, Reimer was rewarded for her outstanding rookie campaign between the pipes as she was named to the OUA all-rookie team.

"I'm very honoured to be named to that team it's very special to me," said Reimer. "I thought it was so cool. I didn't think they would pick me. I don't know what the criteria is to be picked for that team, but it was pretty cool to be recognized."

Reimer is thankful for all of the support she's received from her family, former coaches and goalie coaches, and community. She added it has helped her have a successful year and is looking forward to next season in a Warriors uniform.
