The 2017 Skate Canada Manitoba Synchronized Skating Championship will be making a stop in Morden this weekend.

The event will take place at the Access Event Centre, starting at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude around 5:00 p.m.

"It's the first opportunity for the teams across Manitoba to compete and get feedback on their programs for the season. It's just an opener for the year," said event chair Karen Crockett-Nicholls.

There will be around 220 skaters making up 18 teams.

"Syncro skating skating is groups of girls and boys that have to work together doing certain skills for their age levels, putting those skills in a routine, and then performing it," said Crockett-Nicholls. "They've practiced since October and they did their premier night on January 8th. That was their first showcase for just the Morden area."

Crockett-Nicholls noted there will be a variety of ages competing, from the age of six all the way to adults.
