Eight Manitobans were selected in the 2017 NHL Draft that was held in Chicago.

Two were chosen in round one on Friday night.

Brandon Wheat Kings captain and Winnipeg native Nolan Patrick went second overall to the Philadelphia Flyers and Cody Glass of Winnipeg, who plays with the Portland Winterhawks, was chosen sixth overall by the Vegas Golden Knights.

Rounds two through seven were held on Saturday.

Defenseman Josh Brook of Roblin, who plays for the Moose Jaw Warriors, was selected in the second round by the Montreal Canadiens.

Defenseman Morgan Geekie of Strathclair, who plays for the Tri-City Americans and forward Stelio Mattheos of Winnipeg, who plays for Brandon, both went to the Carolina Hurricanes in round three.

Forward Nick Henry of Portage, who plays for the Regina Pats, was chosen by the Colorado Avalanche in round four.

Forward Brett Davis of Oakbank, who plays for the Kootenay Ice, went to the Dallas Stars in round six.

Wheat Kings defenseman Daniel Bukac of the Czech Republic was chosen by the Boston Bruins and Wyatt Kalynuk of Virden, who plays for Bloomington of the USHL, went to Philadelphia in round seven.

The Winnipeg Jets selected eight players.

Winnipeg took forward Kristain Vesalainen 24th overall in round one.

The Jets then picked defenseman Dylan Samberg in round two; defenseman Jonathan Kovacevic in round three; forward Santeri Virtanen in round four; defenseman Leon Gawanke in round five; goaltender Arvid Holm in round six and forward Syler McKenzie & defenseman Croix Evingson in round seven.

All eight draft picks are scheduled to participate in the Jets 2017 Development Camp which will take place from Monday, June 26th to Friday, June 30th at BELL MTS Iceplex.

Altona native Cole Kehler, who had a 32-17-3 record and a 3.10 goals against average this past season with the Western Hockey League's Portland Winterhawks, will also attend the Jets Development Camp.
