The Pembina Valley Twisters recorded a pair of wins over the Stonewall Jets this past weekend to open their best-of-seven Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League semifinal.

Travis Penner scored with seven minutes remaining in the third period as Pembina Valley edged Stonewall 3-2 in the series opener Saturday night in Morris. Jeremie Goderis and Quade Froese also scored for the Twisters who received a 41-save performance from Travis Klassen. Keeven Daniels-Webb and Ryan McMahon replied for the Jets.

Just 24 hours later Pembina Valley rallied from an early 2-0 deficit and defeated the Jets 4-3 in game two Sunday night in Stonewall. Froese, Braeden Beernaerts, Brayden Klippenstein and Derek Wood did the goal scoring for the Twisters. Aiken Chop had a pair of goals for the Jets.

Game three goes Wednesday (7:30 p.m.) in Morris with game four back in Stonewall on Friday night.
