Two more players have committed to the Winkler Flyers for the 2017-18 season. Local Defenseman Owen Wiebe (99) and Forward Aidan Bar-Lev-Wise (98) have both signed with the Orange and Black.

Owen Wiebe is a 6’0”, 175lbs puck moving Defenseman from Winkler, Manitoba. In 47 games played with the Pembina Valley Hawks (Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League) last season, Wiebe recorded 13 points (2 goals – 11 assists) and 54 penalty minutes. He suited up in one game for the Flyers during the 2016-17 campaign. Wiebe is a good skater with size, can play physical on the back end and has plenty of potential.

“Growing up watching the Flyers, it has always been a goal of mine to play for my hometown team. I’m very excited to have the opportunity to do so,” said Wiebe.

“I’m looking forward to playing in front of family and friends and learning under a great coaching staff here in Winkler,” added Wiebe.

Aidan Bar-Lev-Wise is a 5’11”, 174lbs Forward from Vancouver, British Columbia. He played 40 games last season with the Kelowna Chiefs (KIJHL), accounting for 10 points (5 goals – 5 assists) and 50 penalty minutes.

“He’s a good, two-way forward that will provide depth and experience. He can play all three forward positions. All of his former coaches spoke very highly of Aiden’s character,” said Flyers Head Coach and General Manager Ken Pearson.

“I chose to come to Winkler to experience small town hockey with a solid fan base and help win a championship,” said Bar-Lev-Wise on his decision to come to Winkler.
