The Storm starts tonight. 

It's the Winkler Storm's 2017 Manitoba Major Soccer League first division season opener tonight at the Ralph Cantafio Soccer Complex as they meet Germania FC. 

"We have lots of new players. We have a lot of speed this year with the younger players and have experienced players that stayed with us again this year," said coach Rinaldo Oliveria. "We are looking forward to having a great season."

Winkler will then face Forza-WSP on May 12th, before having its home opener May 22nd when they welcome the FCNW Waverley Mitsubishi for a 7:00 game. 

"The teams really excited for the season. If the crowd can come and bring a lot of positive energy that will help a lot," said Oliveria. 

Also for the home opener, the Storm will be sporting their new jerseys. The team was able to purchase these new jersey's a $5,000 donation from Access Credit Union.

"For Access Credit Union we are always looking for opportunities to support diversity in the area and diverse groups as well. The Storm does a great job of attractive a diverse group of participants and for its crowd,'' said Access Credit Union's Manager of Personal Lending of Access Joel Billing. "I think Access Credit Union looks at this and figures that this a great opportunity for the City of Winkler to host a team such as this crew, that can represent Winkler as a Community.
