A total of nineteen migrants crossed into the Town of Emerson between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning resulting in emergency crews and the local handi-van to be called out in search of those missing in the storm, and people located with injuries.

"RCMP located two last night and seventeen this morning, due to the volume of people and a number of injuries RCMP contacted local emergency services for assistance," said Reeve Greg Janzen.

Janzen went on to say, women, one pregnant, and children, including infants were among those found with injuries due to the weather, noting there was at least one broken arm.

All nineteen migrants were transported to the Emerson port of entry border services for processing.

Along with the migrants, Emerson was host to seven other people traveling from the U.S. into Canada during Tuesday and Wednesday's storm. The individuals including a family with two kids and two dogs were stranded at the local community complex overnight waiting for Highway 75 to open.
