The Winkler Storm created a second men's team this year. The South Central Riot will act as a development team for the soccer organization.

To help with start-up costs, Access Credit Union has donated $3,000. Storm team member Phil Unruh says the money will be a big boost in helping cover field and equipment fees.

The SC Riot will have to start at the bottom of the Manitoba Major Soccer League's bottom 8th division, though Unru expects the team to move up a number of divisions next year.

Unruh explains they created the team to fill a need in Winkler soccer, adding there's too big of a gap between high school soccer and Premier Division Storm soccer. "From Winkler and Morden together, there's maybe one or two guys that can make that jump each year."

Now, players can develop their skills before joining the Winkler Storm.

Both teams have their home openers Saturday, along with a fundraiser BBQ lunch.
