The Altona Community Foundation is helping eleven local projects become reality. The group has granted $18,000 back into the community through its annual spring granting program.

Blue Sky Opportunities and Altona's Field of Dreams snagged the biggest cheques at $3,000. The money will be used to buy a new tractor for Blue Sky, while a new scoreboard will be installed at the baseball diamond.

The Town of Altona scored $2,500 to help cover Canada 150 celebrations this summer.

Coming away with $2,000 each is Gardens on Tenth for its patio/garden project, and the Neubergthal Heritage Foundation for washroom facilities.

$1,500 is going to Altona Youth for Christ to buy some outdoor sports equipment.

Getting $1,200 each is the Altona Senior Centre, which is looking to buy a door opener and roller blind, and a local group looking to bring reusable shopping bags, called Boomerang Bags, to the community.

Rhineland Child Care will use its $600 grant to buy window coverings.

Two Gretna groups snagged $500 each this spring. The Gretna Prairie Centre will spend its money on bathroom upgrades while Buhler Hall is paying for sound equipment to help with recording and editing.
